The opening weekend of MLS did not disappoint in 2016.
A record 36 goals were scored in the 10 games on Sunday, with a few players standing out above the rest by scoring two goals each for their teams.
Ignacio Piatti showed that the Montreal Impact are not a one-man team by putting on a show in Vancouver. The Argentinian scored two goals for the Impact, while assisting on their other goal, with his first strike coming after a weaving run through the Whitecaps' defense.
Further south, Mike Magee returned to StubHub Center in grand fashion. The returning Galaxy legend came off the bench at halftime, with LA down 1-0, and led the home side to a raucous 4-1 victory. The 31-year-old assisted on the Galaxy's first goal before scoring one of his own after chipping Andrew Dykstra. He also won a penalty kick and headed in a goal off a corner.
