After finishing third in the Western Conference and winning a Round One match in the Audi 2019 MLS Cup Playoffs, Real Salt Lake are aiming for more in 2020.
Star attacker Albert Rusnak pondered the question on how the team could improve and gave it an honest answer.
"Definitely means bringing in a few players in a few positions, they have to be top quality players, Rusnak said via Alex Vejar. "There will be a few players leaving from the roster we had this year ... a few guys out of contract, there could be a few transfers. Nick [Rimando] has retired, we'll see what happens with Kyle [Beckerman]. I would be surprised if the same team that has played the majority of this year would show up for preseason next year."
Rusnak, 25, had 10 goals and five assists for the club in 2019, his third season with RSL. He has made 17 appearances with the Slovakian national team, adding four goals.
RSL could have a few changes this winter, after parting ways with both head coach Mike Petke and GM Craig Waibel during the season. Additionally, with legendary keeper Rimando announcing his retirement, the club are forced to find a replacement at goalkeeper for the first time since Rimando joined the club in 2007.
