NEW YORK – Major League Soccer has announced an additional 13 players named to the inactive roster for the AT&T MLS All-Star Game.
The following players have been named All-Stars but will not appear in Wednesday’s match against Chelsea (8:30 pm ET, ESPN2, TeleFutura, TSN/RDS in Canada, Live Chat on MLSsoccer.com).
A minimum of 32 All-Stars are named each year, per the collective bargaining agreement.
Nick Rimando (GK, Real Salt Lake) – One of the premier goalkeepers in MLS and a two-time MLS Cup winner, Rimando has eight shutouts in 20 games this season while posting 11 wins in net for RSL.
Jon Busch (GK, San Jose) – The veteran netminder has helped lead the Earthquakes to the best record in the league at the All-Star break, thanks to five shutouts in 20 appearances.
Jámison Olave (DF, Real Salt Lake) – RSL’s hulking Colombian center back is a perennial All-Star and was named the 2010 MLS Defender of the Year. He has appeared in 18 games this season.
Geoff Cameron (DF, Houston Dynamo) – One of the chief reasons for the Dynamo’s run to the MLS Cup last year, Cameron has two assists in 15 games this season while anchoring the team’s backline.
Brad Davis (MF, Houston Dynamo) – The runner-up for league MVP after a career year last season, Davis has five goals and eight assists in 2012, and scored the first goal in the history of BBVA Compass Stadium in May.
Marco Pappa (MF, Chicago Fire) – One of the brightest young stars in the league and the offensive catalyst for the Fire, Pappa has five goals and three assists this season.
Brek Shea (MF, FC Dallas) – A contender for league MVP last season, Shea has balanced his duties with FCD and the US national team since last fall. He’s scored three goals this season.
Roger Espinoza (MF, Sporting Kansas City) – A physical and unforgiving veteran that anchors the Sporting Kansas City midfield, Espinoza has appeared in 18 games for the club this year and is a regular with the Honduran national team.
Marvin Chávez (MF, San Jose) – One of the most crucial offseason pickups in the league, Chávez has thrived in his first season with the Earthquakes by tallying nine assists and one goal.
Kenny Cooper (FW, New York) – Cooper has been of the biggest revelations in MLS since his offseason trade from Portland to the Red Bulls, scoring a team-high 13 goals.
Fabián Espíndola (FW, Real Salt Lake) – RSL’s pesky and persistent Argentine forward is on pace for a career year. He’s scored six goals and added four assists this season while RSL eye a fifth straight postseason berth.
Kei Kamara (FW, Sporting KC) – A league veteran who has played a crucial role in Sporting’s rise to a MLS Cup contender each of the past two seasons, Kamara has seven goals and four assists this year.
Fredy Montero (FW, Seattle) – A talented striker at the heart of the Sounders offense, Montero has five goals and four assists in 19 games this season.
