Allan Cruz has snapped FC Cincinnati's scoreless drought at 528 minutes with a goal just seven minutes into interim boss Yoann Damet's tenure.
After Darren Mattocks did much of the leg work to free himself for a cross from the left, Cruz finished off the underside of the crossbar to give Cincy a 1-0 lead in Saturday's matinee against the Montreal Impact.
The goal — in the club's first game since the dismissal of coach Alan Koch earlier this week — was Cincinnati's first since Mattocks hit the opener from the penalty spot in a 1-1 home draw against Sporting Kansas City on April 7.
The drought was the sixth-longest in MLS history, though still nearly 300 minutes shy of the all-time record set by 2007 Toronto FC. Three of the six longest droughts were posted by teams in their expansion MLS seasons.
Cruz's goal was Cincinnati's first from open play in 662 minutes, the last coming when Kenny Saief scored in a 2-0 win at the New England Revolution on March 24.
