Atlanta United Homegrown Andrew Carleton scores for US U-17s vs. Turkey

Atlanta United has a highly-touted Homegrown forward in Andrew Carleton, and on Friday, he showed some of that promise.

Playing for the US U-17 national team in the Nike Friendlies, an annual international friendly tournament in Florida, Carleton scored a first-half brace in a 5-1 win over Turkey. Helping to bring the Americans level, he then scored the go-ahead goal just before halftime, and the US never looked back.

Carleton, who also helped set up the third goal in the match, leads the tournament in scoring with four goals and an assist. The Homegrown forward, signed by Atlanta United in June as a 15-year-old, made his professional debut this year with Atlanta's USL affiliate, Charleston Battery.

The win comes following a 7-1 rout of Portugal in the US' first game of the tournament and lead the group heading into the final matchday. The final games of the tournament will be on Sunday, as the US will take on Brazil at 5 pm ET (games will be televised on US Soccer's YouTube channel) and Turkey will play Portugal.
