TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Signing
Atlanta United added to their attacking options on Thursday, announcing the signing of Irishman Jake Mulraney via transfer from Scottish Premiership side Heart of Midlothian.
Mulraney has played his last four seasons in Scotland, with the last two coming at Hearts. He made 64 appearances for Inverness over the course of two seasons, collecting three goals and six assists. In 52 appearances with Hearts, the 23-year-old had two goals and 10 assists.
“We’re excited to add another quality attacking player to our club in Jake,” Atlanta United VP and technical director Carlos Bocanegra said in a statement. “He’s a direct player with a lot of pace who can play anywhere across the front three. As he’s in the middle of a season, Jake will be able to get up to full fitness quickly and immediately compete.”
Mulraney has played his entire career in England and Scotland. The Dublin, Ireland native spent two years in the Nottingham Forest academy before signing his first professional contract with Queens Park Rangers in 2014. In October 2015, he was loaned out to Dagenham & Redbridge FC and made his professional debut for the club in a Football League Trophy match.
Atlanta were a bit lacking at the winger position after the departures of Julian Gressel, Dion Pereira and Justin Meram. Mulraney will likely compete for time on the right wing with Hector Villalba and Brooks Lennon, while providing depth behind Ezequiel Barco on the left.
