Last week, erroneous reports surfaced that Atlanta United had agreed a deal to sell Miguel Almiron to Arsenal, including one that quoted someone named "Darren Eagles".
Atlanta president Darren Eales found these rumors hilarious for both the misspelling of his name and the reported $11m fee, dismissing it as nowhere near the amount the club would consider selling the Paraguayan for.
“It’s funny, you know," Eales told 92.9 The Game. "You’ve made it when they start to make up quotes from you. One was they called me Eagles and the other was the $11 million dollar fee. It would take triple that to even get out of bed to look at offers for Almiron.”
Almiron is enjoying another highly successful season in MLS, helping lead Atlanta to the top of the Supporters' Shield race with two games left in the season. The Paraguayan has 12 goals and 14 assists in 32 games in 2018. But, his club will likely have to play their final two regular season games without their star, due to a hamstring injury picked up last weekend.
