Senior Vice President / Competition Planning & Scheduling
As Senior Vice President of Competition Planning & Scheduling for Major League Soccer, Brad Pursel leads the league’s efforts in schedule development and management for the regular season and playoffs, balancing competition and commercial imperatives while working closely with the clubs, venues and media partners. (Past and present partners include Apple, FOX Sports, ESPN and Univision in the U.S. / TSN, TVAS and RDS in Canada).
Pursel also closely collaborates with FIFA, Concacaf, Soccer United Marketing, U.S. Soccer, Canadian Soccer Association, Federación Mexicana de Fútbol and LigaMX on international and regional competitions, including the FIFA World Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, Concacaf Gold Cup, Concacaf Champions Cup, US Open Cup, Canadian Championship, Campeones Cup and Leagues Cup. He also helps oversee schedule development for the league’s growing reserve division, MLS Next Pro. Additionally, Pursel plays a leadership role in planning the league’s competition structure.
Prior to this position, Pursel launched and managed the league’s Club Services department for several years, working directly with the clubs in the areas of ticketing, marketing and sponsorship. He started at MLS in 1997, initially working in Game Operations and Broadcasting. He earned his undergraduate degree from Lafayette College, where he also played soccer and tennis. He earned his Master’s degree from NYU. Pursel resides with his family in Pelham, NY.
