UPDATE – Jan. 21: US men's national team defender and FC Dallas product Bryan Reynolds will join Belgian club Kortrijk on loan from AS Roma through the end of the 2021-22 season, a source confirms.
DiMarzio first reported the deal was agreed upon; it does not include a purchase option.
Reynolds, 20, has played just one Serie A minute for Roma under Jose Mourinho this season. Since joining Roma from FC Dallas for an $8.5 million fee a year ago, Reynolds has made just eight appearances, a total of 375 minutes. His lone start under Mourinho this year was a Europa Conference League 6-1 loss to Bodo/Glimt.
Kortrijk currently sit ninth in the Belgian top-flight after 21 matches. Reynolds is expected to be the first choice right back, a chance at regular playing time vital to his development.
Anderlecht nearly sealed a deal earlier this month, but defender Michael Murillo looks set to remain with the club, which means they don't need another right back. Club Brugge and Hull City were among other teams that had interest in a potential deal.
UPDATE – Jan. 17: Talks between RSC Anderlecht and AS Roma over a loan deal with a purchase option for Bryan Reynolds have ended with no deal, MLSsoccer.com has learned.
Anderlecht were hoping to acquire Reynolds, but right back Michael Murillo's expected move is yet to materialize. Murillo, a former New York Red Bulls defender, was linked with a few Russian clubs. Reynolds could have found himself with the same problem of being blocked for game time if he went to Anderlecht as one of a few options at the position.
Reynolds is still expected to move this month, with other Belgian clubs particularly keen on a move, as well as others around Europe. English Championship side Hull City was linked with the former FC Dallas homegrown player earlier this month as well.
The USMNT right back has played just one Serie A minute for Roma under Jose Mourinho this season.
Belgium is home to several American and Canadian players, including Tajon Buchanan (Club Brugge), Kyle Duncan (KV Oostende), Sam Vines (Royal Antwerp), Mark McKenzie (KRC Genk), Chris Durkin (Sint-Truidense) and more.

No deal is yet being finalized with other clubs still hoping to land Reynolds on loan, including Anderlecht's rivals Club Brugge. Reynolds nearly joined Brugge last winter before Roma sealed an $8.5 million deal with FC Dallas for the rising talent.
Reynolds, 20, has found playing time hard to come by under manager Jose Mourinho, who arrived this summer and is notoriously tough on young players. Reynolds has played just one minute in Serie A this season and made one appearance in the UEFA Conference League, a third-tier European competition. Roma currently sit sixth in the league this year during Mourinho's first campaign.
After arriving in Italy last winter, Reynolds made five Serie A appearances in the second half of the season.
Anderlecht are currently third in the Belgian league table, with Brugge in second. Former New England Revolution winger and Canadian international Tajon Buchanan just joined Brugge on January 1.
Reynolds originally signed his homegrown contract with Dallas in 2017 and started just 15 MLS matches before making the move to Roma, as Juventus, Brugge and other clubs were chasing his signature. A winger during his youth, Reynolds only converted to right back a few years ago and needs first-team minutes to realize that vast potential. A move to Belgium would give him that opportunity to develop further at a high level.
The right back has two appearances with the senior USMNT, the most recent of which in December when they beat Bosnia and Herzegovina, 1-0.
