Se queda.

After a whirlwind of reports linking LAFC star Carlos Vela with a move to Barcelona, the Spanish club signed another target and have moved on, meaning Vela is staying put in Los Angeles. The Mexico international spoke this week about the reports and viewed the whole situation in an optimistic light.

"When something like this comes and they ask about your situation, it's always good because it means you're doing a good job," Vela said Monday. "I take it as something positive, and after it did not happen, there's no problem."

"They show their interest, ask for your services, and between clubs they make the decision," Vela said. "In this case it didn't happen. … If it happened it was an exception because it's Barcelona, one of the most important [clubs] in the world and it's difficult to say no."

Vela was a Best XI selection in his first MLS season, with 14 goals and 13 assists across 28 appearances in LAFC's expansion season. For now, he has no plans on leaving and carries the highest of ambitions with the club moving forward.

"I'm very well here, I don't want to leave and I'm very happy to be here," Vela said. The club knows that I'm very happy here; that I love this city, this club, this league. ... My goals are clear, try to take my team to be a champion and personally seek to be the MVP."

Vela and LAFC open their 2nd MLS season on March 3 against Sporting Kansas City at the Banc of California.
