FC Cincinnati opened their 2019 Carolina Challenge Cup slate with a 2-1 win over tournament hosts Charleston Battery on Saturday at MUSC Health Stadium in Charleston, South Carolina.
Cincinnati took the lead right off the bat, as Fanendo Adi poked the ball into the net on a charge just two minutes in.
In the second half, the teams swapped penalties, with Charleston's Ian Svantesson converting his kick in the 52nd minute, followed by Darren Mattocks scoring his five minutes later.
