Charlotte won’t officially join MLS until 2021, but the expansion club continues to make prominent hires behind-the-scenes.
The latest addition is Tiffany Blackmon as a host and producer, after she’s worked as an on-air reporter for the NFL Network covering the Carolina Panthers since 2015. Both teams are owned by David Tepper, whose quest to bring MLS to North Carolina was made official last December.
“From my days of playing travel soccer, I always equated Charlotte and the Carolinas with soccer,” Blackmon told content producer Ryan Bailey in an interview on the team’s site. “This city is due for a team and is so deserving of it. And knowing how this fanbase is, I don’t think you could find a better fit.”
Blackmon will also work closely with the MLS Community Relations Team, helping to connect the Greater Charlotte area with their new team. While she’s been around the NFL in recent years, Blackmon also covered the Houston Dynamo and NWSL’s Houston Dash.
Off the field, Charlotte have already added Zoran Krneta as sporting director, Thomas Schaling as the club’s director of scouting and Marc Nicholls as technical director. Krneta and Schaling come from European backgrounds, while Nicholls has worked extensively with the Seattle Sounders. They don't yet have a head coach in place.
