After going goalless in his first 10 appearances of 2019, Chris Wondolowski suddenly can't stop scoring.
One week after breaking Landon Donovan's all-time career goals record with four strikes against the Chicago Fire, the San Jose Earthquakes legend bagged another two goals on Sunday in a tense 2-1 road win over Toronto FC, running his total to 150 goals in 339 career regular-season matches.
No surprises here: Both finishes were vintage Wondo, ghosting into small pockets of space in the box to beat the goalkeeper (in this case TFC's Quentin Westberg) with quicksilver first-time finishes.
The brace takes Wondolowski two steps closer to extending his long-running, and amazing, personal feat: Should he net 10 goals this year, he'll have reached double-digit scoring in 10 consecutive seasons. His second goal also set him set another record, as he now has the most game-winning goals in MLS history.
Landon Donovan previously held the record.
So just how far can Wondo go? We'll all have to keep watching as the Quakes move on to a visit with D.C. United on Saturday (8:00 pm ET | MLS LIVE on ESPN+ in US, MLS LIVE on DAZN in Canada).
