Cristian Roldan is just hitting bangers for fun nowadays.
In the 5th minute of Saturday’s home match against the Houston Dynamo, the Seattle Sounders and US national team midfielder smashed a 25-yard volley into the top corner. He first collected a cleared corner kick with his chest, let the ball take a bounce and made no mistake on the dipping finish. Joe Willis stood no chance.
This is second straight week that Roldan, 23, has hit a jaw-dropping strike. In last weekend’s 1-1 draw at Minnesota United FC, he let the ball come across his body and hit a clean-as-can-be shot that faded away from Vito Mannone.
Roldan now has 17 goals and 17 assists throughout his regular-season career in MLS. The box-to-box midfielder, certainly not short on confidence, has added some world-class strikes to the highlight reel.
