DC United acquire Emmanuel Boateng from LA Galaxy for allocation money

Emmanuel Boateng scores League Cup - LA Galaxy

TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Trade

D.C. United have acquired midfielder Emmanuel Boateng from the LA Galaxy in exchange for $250,000 Targeted Allocation Money, the clubs announced Wednesday.

Boateng, 25, has made 108 appearances across four seasons with the Galaxy, including 21 this season.

"Adding Emmanuel gives us another dynamic option from wide areas," United GM and VP of Soccer Operations Dave Kasper said in a club statement. "His ability to stretch the field and get behind the opponent's defensive line will give us an additional attacking threat as we enter the final stages of the regular season."

The move adds to D.C.'s midfield depth while it opens more budget in L.A. as the Galaxy work to make room for Cristian Pavon, the Boca Juniors star the club are working to sign before the Secondary Transfer Window deadline closes Wednesday night.

“We want to thank Emmanuel for his contributions to the LA Galaxy during his time with the club,” Galaxy GM Dennis te Kloese said in a club statement. “We wish him the best of luck in his future.”
