Veteran Argentine playmaker Federico Higuain is in full training for D.C. United and will play for the Black-and-Red in the MLS is Back Tournament in Orlando, head coach Ben Olsen has told The Athletic's Pablo Maurer.
The 35-year-old Higuain is now more than a year removed from a torn ACL that prematurely ended his service for Columbus Crew SC across portions of eight seasons.
The Crew moved on from Higuain as a player after 2019, but made clear he would be welcome back to the organization in a front office or coaching capacity.
Instead, Higuain took an offer to become a player-coach for Olsen's squad that was made official in early March.
