TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Re-signed
D.C. United have re-signed goalkeeper Chris Seitz through the 2021 season, the club announced Sunday. The 33-year-old, who was acquired by D.C. United following a trade with the Houston Dynamo before the 2019 MLS season, has made 110 regular season appearances in a 14-year MLS career.
In 2020, Seitz had a pair of clean sheets in six regular season starts. In total, Seitz has made seven MLS appearances for the Black-and-Red in two seasons; totaling 24 saves and two shutouts. He last appeared in a 2-1 win against FC Cincinnati on Oct. 18 at Nippert Stadium.
Seitz was the fourth overall pick by Real Salt Lake in the 2007 MLS SuperDraft before being a regular starter in his lone season with the Philadelphia Union in the club's inaugural season in 2010. He spent seven seasons with FC Dallas, serving primarily as a backup first to to Kevin Hartman, then to Jesse Gonzalez, before taking the starting spot from Gonzalez in 2016.
That would prove to be his best year, as he started a career-best 28 games, posting a 1.04 goals against average to help Dallas to a Supporters' Shield and Open Cup double.
