TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Signing

D.C. United have signed forward Dominique Badji, the club announced Thursday.

The 31-year-old is under contract through 2026 with an option for 2027. He was a free agent after last playing for Turkish second-division side Bandirmaspor.

"We are excited to add an MLS veteran to our attacking core," general manager and chief soccer officer Ally Mackay said in a release. "Dom is a forward who has elite pace and reads the game well to put himself in good scoring positions.

"Dominique will add a different dimension when going forward and will ultimately help create more chances for us in the final third. We’re excited to integrate him with the squad and welcome him back to the DMV."

Badji has 43g/23a in 205 MLS appearances, competing for FC Cincinnati, Colorado Rapids, Nashville SC and FC Dallas throughout nine seasons. The Senegal native helped FC Cincinnati win the Supporters’ Shield in 2023 before his brief stop in Turkey.

Alongside Christian Benteke and Jacob Murrell, Badji adds depth to the Black-and-Red's No. 9 group. He can debut once the MLS Secondary Transfer Window opens on July 18.

In their first year under head coach Troy Lesesne, D.C. United are 15th in the Eastern Conference (4W-10L-8D; 20 points). The club last made the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs in 2019.
