After big wins over Portugal and Turkey, the US U-17 national team continued its strong run of play with a 3-0 victory over Brazil on Sunday to win an international friendly tournament in Florida.
And MLS players once again played a key role as D.C. United’s Chris Durkin had a great assist on the Americans’ opening goal, floating a long ball to set up Toronto FC II’s Ayo Akinola. Durkin inked a Homegrown contract with D.C. United in June as one of the youngest signings in MLS history.
Josh Sargent (St. Louis Scott Gallagher) and Timothy Weah (Paris Saint-Germain) also scored and Justin Garces (Kendall Soccer Club) earned the shutout to win the Golden Glove as the tournament’s best goalkeeper.
The kids, coached by former Philadelphia Union manager John Hackworth, were pretty excited about it, as you can see:

Atlanta United's prized Homegrown signing Andrew Carleton led the way in the previous two matches of the tournament with four goals and an assist.
