One of the strangest scenes of the young season in Major League Soccer went down on Saturday, when FC Dallas defender George John was hit with a bottle by someone in the crowd in Frisco after he scored the game-winning goal against the LA Galaxy.
John – who suffered a gash on the back of the head and remained on the ground for several minutes after the incident – joined MLSsoccer.com’s ExtraTime Radio podcast on Monday to talk about the injury and whether or not he would reconcile with the man, who was arrested for the incident.
“I didn’t really know what had happened,” he said. “I knew I got hit, but I didn’t know if I ran into someone when I wasn’t looking or if I ran into the post. Then as I was laying on the ground I saw the beer bottle and I knew that it had to have hit me, and it had to have come from a fan.”
