Fantasy: Week 28 positional rankings

Reid and Mike make the most of this light week by sitting down with 2018 Spring season champion Tod Modisette and chat about his road to victory and what he learned along the way. Even with this great interview, they still provide all the basics including a Round 27 review, the Injury/Call-Up News, and a preview of all of the games in Round 28.

A condensed Week 28 has just four games on the docket due to the international break, forcing fantasy managers to get creative with just seven teams to select from. New York City FC stick out as the team to target with two home games, but Portland and Sporting Kansas City also have favorable matchups to consider this week. Goalkeepers

Sean Johnson has kept a clean sheet in three of his last four home games, and even with NYC missing some key ingredients to their defense he stands a good chance to register another shutout with a pair of home games against New England (Wednesday; 7 pm ET | TV & streaming info) and D.C. United (Saturday; 4:55 pm ET | Univision, Twitter — Full TV & streaming info).

Defenders

Anton Tinnerholm notched his fifth assist of the season last week, highlighting his ability to contribute both attacking and defensive fantasy points. Also high on the radar in Week 28 is Ronald Mataritta, who could be playing higher up the field with NYC short on attackers due to injuries and international call-ups.

Forwards

David Villa was kept in check last week but he’s in prime position to bounce back with home games against New England and D.C. in Week 28. He has 10 goals in 14 starts this season and — while roster rotation is always a concern on a double-game week — there’s a good chance Villa features in both games due to NYC’s thinned-out attack.
