FC Dallas look to secure their spot above the playoff line in the Western Conference, while New York City FC will try to extend their lead atop the Eastern Conference when the sides square off at Toyota Stadium Sunday night.
FC Dallas (12-11-8), which have lost just once in their last five games, moved above the line in the West with a 0-0 draw against the Seattle Sounders Wednesday night. With a gritty defensive effort, FC Dallas held the hosts to just three attempts on target and snapped a string of eight league losses at Seattle, earning just their fifth MLS point in 12 visits there overall.
NYCFC (16-5-9) extended their lead atop the Eastern Conference and clinched a home playoff game with a 2-1 win over the San Jose Earthquakes Saturday at Yankee Stadium. After falling behind on a Chris Wondolowski goal in the 20th minute, Keaton Parks and Alexandru Mitrita scored three minutes apart late in the first half to secure the win and extend an unbeaten streak to seven matches.
