Former NYCFC winger Jack Harrison scores as Leeds go 1st, closer to Premier League

Jack Harrison - Leeds United - tight shot

Former New York City FC winger Jack Harrison scored his sixth goal and Leeds United's third of the afternoon in a 3-0 home victory over Fulham on Saturday that took hosts back alone into first place in the English League Championship with seven matches to play.

Harrison, who was going up against US international Tim Ream in the Fulham defense, added his eighth assist in 39 league matches on a counterattack down the right flank before also scoring on the break. He's started every league fixture for the three-time English champions.

Leeds could be back in the top flight soon, now sitting three points up on West Bromwich and even on matches, and eight points clear of third-place Brentford. The top two finishers earn an automatic place in the 2020-21 Premier League, with the third through sixth playing off for the third spot.

After a college career at Wake Forest, Harrison arrived at NYCFC via trade after being taken first overall in the 2016 MLS SuperDraft. The former Manchester United's academy charge had 14 goals and 13 assists in two MLS seasons before moving on to sign with City, who then loaned him out.
