Last week in San Jose, Calif., Arsenal's young American international, Gedion Zelalem, told MLSsoccer.com he was unsure whether he would go out on loan again during the coming Premier League season. But his activity with Arsenal for the past two weeks might foreshadow a shot with the club after all.
The 18-year-old, a future USMNT prospect, spent last year with Scottish second-division side Rangers. But MLS' All-Star festivities saw plenty of Zelalem action with the Gunners. Not only did he get to take the field with the team during the All-Star Game, but his teammates, along with manager Arsene Wenger, praised his performance both before and after the match.
Now, Wenger's named him to the team's traveling squad once again. Zelalem joins familiar faces from last week, as well as returning heavyweights like Alexis Sanchez and Aaron Ramsey, in a pair of upcoming preseason friendlies in Scandinavia. Together, they'll face Viking FK at Viking Stadion in Stavanger, Norway on August 5, then Manchester City at Ullevi Stadium in Gothenburg, Sweden on August 7.
