TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Signing
The LA Galaxy have signed midfielder Juninho, who previously played for the team from 2010-15, the club announced Tuesday. The Galaxy sent $75,000 in General Allocation Money to acquire the Right of First Refusal from the Chicago Fire, who Juninho played for in 2017 while on loan from Liga MX side Club Tijuana.
Juninho, who will turn 30 in January, was an integral part of three MLS Cup-winning Galaxy sides in 2011, 2012 and 2014. He made 187 appearances over five seasons, adding 18 goals and 23 assists.
“I am very excited to welcome back such a talented and well-respected player to our club,” general manager Dennis te Kloese said in a media release. “Juninho knows what it means to represent the LA Galaxy and will be a leader on and off the field for our players. He is a valuable addition to our roster.”
The Brazilian initially joined the Galaxy on loan from Sao Paulo in 2010. He left the Galaxy for Xolos after the 2015 season.
