TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Retirement
Houston Dynamo captain and former US internationalDaMarcus Beasley will retire at the end of this season, the player announced on social media Monday.
Beasley is in his 20th professional season and will turn 37 years old on Friday.
Beasley has made 211 MLS appearances to date between stints with the Chicago Fire (2000-04) and Dynamo (2014-current). He made his MLS season debut on Wednesday following a knee injury suffered in the Concacaf Champions League this winter.
On the international level, Beasley was the first men's player to appear at four World Cups then became the first to appear in five World Cup qualifying cycles. He is a four-time Gold Cup champion (2002, 2005, 2007, 2013). His 126 caps are 7th all-time for the USMNT.
After leaving the Fire in 2004, Beasley spent time in Europe with PSV, Manchester City, Rangers and Hannover 96, and in Liga MX with Puebla, before returning to MLS in 2014.
On top of three U.S. Open Cup triumphs and a Supporters' Shield, Beasley twice won the Scottish Premier League and Dutch Eredivisie.
