The Houston Dynamo will continue their slate in Preseason presented by Advocare with a second match against their USL Championship squad, Rio Grande Valley FC, on Tuesday morning in Houston.
Houston Dynamo
Houston won the first clash between the teams, a 1-0 win over their reserve team, at BBVA Compass Stadium on Saturday during an open practice event. Alberth Elis scored the goal for the winning side on a patented counterattack, while a subsequent penalty attempt from the Honduran was saved.
"We've been training for two weeks, just with the boys, so it's good to play another opponent," said Dynamo captain DaMarcus Beasley after the game. "We've got a game in a little over three weeks, so it's good to play 11v11 against a different opponent, different faces, get a little run out, get some fitness in."
The Dynamo, gearing up for their 2019 Concacaf Champions League series against Guatemalan outfit CD Guastatoya next month, will have something of an expanded squad scrimmage against RGVFC to continue to work towards match fitness.
RGVFC
Rio Grande Valley FC are gearing up for their fourth season. The club held tryouts earlier this month, and under head coach Gerson Echeverry will look to return to the USL Championship playoffs, after a disappointing 2018 season left them 13th in the Western Conference.
Ahead of Saturday's match the club released their roster, including new addition Jamaican international Maalique Foster, on loan from Costa Rican outfit Alajuelense.
RGVFC will open their 2019 regular season campaign on March 9 on the road against Seattle Sounders 2.
