For the first time since mid-March, Montreal Impact playmaker Ignacio Piatti returned to action Saturday.
Piatti was a 66th-minute sub in the Impact's 0-0 draw against the New England Revolution at Stade Saputo. His entrance into the match, spelling Mathieu Choiniere, was the first MLS action Piatti's seen since the third match of the season. In that match, Piatti scored a brace to lead the Impact to a 3-1 road win over Orlando City SC.
Against the Revs, Piatti completed five of seven passes, won two fouls and had one successful dribble. He also was yellow carded in the 79th minute.
"I'm very happy to be back with the group," said Piatti after the match. "I was on the outskirts for a long time and now I feel great. I want to thank the supporters, because I truly felt their backing today. We tried to win this game, but the other team did enough to merit the point."
Piatti has the chance to make his first start since the Orlando win on Friday night, when the Impact travel across the continent to play LAFC on Friday night.
