With the Montreal Impact holding a 2020 contract option, Ignacio Piatti recently told TVA Sports he's open to staying in his current city beyond the 2019 season.
The big sticking point will be the health of his ill father and well-being of his family, who are in Argentina.
"I've been in Montreal for five years and over the years, this city has become my home," the 33-year-old Piatti said during an interview. "I want to get back to my family and take care of my father, but [if my family is doing well] at the end of the season, I will stay in Quebec."
Piatti says he wants to win a trophy before returning to South America, and he is hopeful the club can end a two-year playoff drought in 2019 after a strong end to 2018 under first-year coach Remi Garde.
