Independent Panel rescinds red card for Vancouver Whitecaps' Kendall Waston

Kendall Waston - Vancouver Whitecaps FC - Close up

The Independent Panel, consisting of one representative each from the United States Soccer Federation, Canadian Soccer Association, and the Professional Referee Organization, has unanimously rescinded the one-game suspension and accompanying fine for the red card issued to Vancouver Whitecaps FC defender Kendall Waston for violent conduct in the 13th minute of Vancouver’s match against Atlanta United on March 17.

As a result of the Whitecaps' appeal, Waston is eligible to play in Vancouver’s next regular season game on Saturday against the LA Galaxy (10 pm ET | TSN in Canada; MLS LIVE in US). The defender is currently competing with the Costa Rican national team, and his next available MLS match will be on March 31 against Columbus Crew SC.

Each club is entitled to two unsuccessful appeals per season, including playoffs. Since Vancouver’s appeal was successful, the team maintains two unsuccessful appeals for any future dismissals in the 2018 season.
