One week after beating Mexico national team teammate Raul Jimenez on the virtual pitch, Inter Miami CF midfielder Rodolfo Pizarro swept aside another challenge on Saturday, downing Sporting Kansas City striker Alan Pulido 7-1 across a two-legged FIFA 20 friendly.
Pizarro not only got the best of his fellow El Tri attacker, but scored five times with himself, starting with a pair in the 3-0 first-leg win. He added goals in the 26th and 66th minutes, rounding out the momentum that Wil Trapp started in the 8th minute with an opener from close range. With a tough hill to climb in the second leg, Pulido made it 3-1 on aggregate when Johnny Russell fired home in the 6th minute. But then Miami regained control via three Pizarro goals and another from Juan Agudelo for the 4-1 win.
Pulido had previously challenged Pizarro to a head-to-head FIFA virtual competition during an April interview with Ahora o Nunca: “I have to challenge him in FIFA to see if it's true!”
The Mexican attackers have twice played together for the Mexico national team, and they also helped Chivas lift the Concacaf Champions League trophy in 2018. They’ve squared off four times in four Liga MX matches, including three while Pizarro played for Pachuca and Pulido played for Tigres.
