Vancouver defender Jordan Harvey will likely hit a major milestone on Wednesday night: If he takes the field against the Chicago Fire at BC Place (10 pm ET; TSN, MLS LIVE), the 32-year-old will become the Whitecaps’ new all-time leader in MLS regular season appearances.
Harvey, acquired by Vancouver in a trade with Philadelphia in July 2011, is currently tied with Gershon Koffie for the club lead with 133 regular-season appearances. Koffie was traded by Vancouver to New England this preseason.
“It’s a huge honor,” Harvey told RedNationOnline.ca about the prospect of breaking the record. “This club has had a lot of great players and to have the most appearances, is really truly and honor and a privilege to be here, playing in front of these fans and this organization.”
Harvey should make the mark his own on Wednesday. He’s started 10 of Vancouver’s 11 matches this year, and ‘Caps head coach Carl Robinson told media this week that he’s “sure [Jordan] will break the record” against Chicago.
