LA Galaxy forward Giovani dos Santos has not appeared for the Mexico national team since July 16, and that streak will continue for at least another few months.
New head coach Juan Carlos Osorio said Monday that Dos Santos was left off of Mexico's roster for this week's CONCACAF World Cup Qualifiers due to injury concerns.
"Giovani isn't fully recovered from my point of view and I haven't had a chance to speak with him to let him know, but I hope to do that soon," Osorio said on Monday. "I hope he is better for the good of Mexican football and for sure we will take him into account in the future."
The 26-year-old was named to Mexico's roster for the CONCACAF Cup on October 10 but was forced to sit out the game after suffering a muscle strain against the Seattle Sounders on October 4.
He did manage to come back for the Galaxy's final two regular-season games and playoff game in Seattle on October 28.
In his first season in MLS, dos Santos had three goals and five assists in 10 matches.
