UPDATE (9/26/20, 2:45 pm ET): LA Galaxy II have parted ways with defender Omar Ontiveros, the club announced in a release Saturday. The announcement comes after the player was found to have used a racial slur in the club's USL Championship game with San Diego Loyal on Wednesday.

USL Championship side San Diego Loyal Soccer Club announced Friday they want to forfeit the point from their 1-1 draw against the LA Galaxy II on Wednesday night, a match marred by the use of a racial slur by Galaxy II's Omar Ontiveros toward an SD Loyal player.
“We don’t even want to recognize being a part of a match where these types of actions take place,” SD Loyal’s chairman Andrew Vassiliadis said in a statement. “The Loyal in our name is symbolic of the diversity in our community and as a club we will not stand for this.”
While the Loyal have stated their intention to forfeit the point, the decision will ultimately rest with the league.
Also Friday, the USL announced Ontiveros has been suspended for six games for his conduct, which will be added on to a one-game ban for the red card he received in the contest. Per the player’s contract, Ontiveros could also be subject to additional discipline from LA Galaxy II.
Ontiveros addressed the slur toward a Black SD Loyal player in the 71st minute, and received no immediate discipline. None of the facts in the subsequent investigation of the incident by the USL Championship were disputed by any of the involved parties.
