TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Extension
Tristan Blackmon figures to be a major piece of the LAFC defense in 2020 and on Wednesday, the club announced that they have agreed multi-year contract extension with the 23-year-old. The extension is through 2022 with a club option in 2023.
Blackmon was originally the No. 3 pick in the 2018 SuperDraft and since then he has appeared in 28 matches with the club. 15 of his 20 starts came in 2019 and the two-year pro started both of LAFC's Audi 2019 MLS Cup Playoff matches.
“We are grateful to have agreed to a contract extension with Tristan that will keep him with us for the foreseeable future,” said LAFC GM and EVP of soccer operations John Thorrington in a statement. “Tristan has shown great progress over these last two years, which leaves us incredibly excited for his bright future here at LAFC.”
Blackmon has played as a right back and center back under Bob Bradley, and with the departure of starting right back Steven Beitashour, Blackmon figures to be fixture in the starting XI in 2020.
