D.C. UnitedHomegrown midfielder Chris Durkin made his first start on loan at Belgian first-division outfit Sint-Truiden on Saturday.
The 19-year-old was in the starting XI in a league clash against league leaders Club Brugge, and went 89 minutes as a late winner by Brugge led to a 2-1 defeat for Sint-Truiden at their home ground of the Stayen. The result keeps Sint-Truiden firmly in mid-table, in ninth place.
Durkin had previously gotten spot duty off the bench for Sint-Truiden in league and cup competitions since making the move there in August.
Long linked with a move to Europe, Durkin made 13 appearances for D.C. United in 2019, but slid down the depth chart over the course of the season. In his MLS career to date, Durkin has 36 regular season appearances, scoring one goal from a defensive midfield position.
