US national team star Megan Rapinoe added to her personal accolades by being named Sports Illustrated's 2019 Sportsperson of the Year.

The midfielder, who led the USWNT to their fourth World Cup title this year, is just the fourth individual woman to be named Sportsperson of the Year in SI's history, and joins the 1999 World Cup-winning US team as the only soccer players to ever garner the honor.

The latest award joins Rapinoe's impressive personal haul in 2019. In addition to winning the World Cup, she was the Golden Boot winner as top scorer in the tournament and the Golden Ball winner as the best player. She also won FIFA's The Best award as the world's best female player, and also won the second annual Ballon d'Or Féminin as the world's best female player. As a member of Reign FC, Rapinoe was also an NWSL Second XI selection in 2019.

The SI feature accompanying Rapinoe's selection highlights not only her sporting achievements but her social activism and community work while dealing with a greater level of fame after becoming a household name in the United States.
