If you’re trying to get Mexican sports fans riled up against the United States, who’s a convenient bogeyman? Donald Trump, of course!
That’s what TV Azteca decided when they released this new ad promoting the upcoming CONCACAF Cup playoff game between El Tri and the US national team on Oct. 10.
The ad starts with the Republican presidential candidate's controversial remarks on Mexican immigrants, before turning his comments on their head. As Trump intones, “The American dream is dead,” check for a splice-in of sad-faced US soccer fans, an incredible use of slow-mo, and a number of other effects to make this one of the most audacious recent examples of broadcast banter.
