Mexico 2, Costa Rica 2 | International Friendly Match Recap

Guillermo Ochoa, Mexico (June 27, 2015)

If the Mexican national team is really expecting to win the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup, they have some work to do after Saturday's 2-2 draw against Costa Rica in a friendly played in front of 53,629 at Orlando's Citrus Bowl.

El Tri were thoroughly outplayed in a first half which saw them fall behind 2-0 to goals by David Ramirez (4th minute) and an own goal by Miguel Layun in the 33rd minute.

But the ticos, who are managed by former Chicago Fire striker Paulo Cesar Wanchope, coughed up the lead early in the second half as goals by Giovani Dos Santos and Javier Chicharito Hernandez in a matter of three minutes drew the Mexicans level.

Mexico begin their Gold Cup campaign against Cuba on July 9 (9:30 pm ET, Soldier Field), while Costa Rica kick off group stage play a day before on July 8 vs. Jamaica (8 pm ET, StubHub Center).
