The MLS Disciplinary Committee announced that it has suspended Vancouver forward Blas Perez for one game for an action taken in the Whitecaps’ 2-1 loss to the Seattle Sounders on Sunday.
Perez contact on Gomez
After being whistled for a foul on Seattle forward Herculez Gomez in the 78th minute of Sunday’s match, Perez appeared to follow through and make a second contact with Gomez while the Sounders attacker was on the ground.
The committee unanimously ruled that the action was violent conduct and suspended Perez for one match and issued him a fine. Perez will serve his suspension when the Whitecaps play at the San Jose Earthquakes in their penultimate match of the season on Oct. 16.
