Midfielders serve as a good foundation to build a MLS Fantasy team around as they’re typically the most reliable players to earn consistent points on a weekly basis. Rostering midfielders who can pile up bonus points without goals or assists is a sound strategy, but combining that safe floor with high scoring upside is what will set your fantasy team apart over the course of the season.
Last season’s fantasy gem Miguel Almiron is off the table, but there are several new stars to build around in Nani, Pity Martinez and Marco Fabian to name a few.

While Almiron led the way with 269 total fantasy points in 2018, Maxi Moralez (258), Nicolas Lodeiro (257) and Ignacio Piatti (252) weren’t far behind. Lodeiro boasted the best average of any player last season with a healthy 9.52 fantasy points per game. The Uruguayan ticks all the boxes of what we want in a fantasy midfielder and he checks in as my top midfielder heading into 2019.
