When it comes to the greatest strikers in MLS history, Chris Wondolowski knows a thing or two.
The league's all-time leading scorer went on ESPN FC's Banter with Taylor Twellman for an interview and named his top three MLS forwards of all-time, with the caveat to leave himself out of the conversation.
Wondo quickly pointed to Landon Donovan, Jaime Moreno and his interviewer, Twellman. No word on if he felt obliged to include him because it was his own show or not.
Donovan, who has the league's MVP trophy named after him, had 145 goals and 136 assists across 340 MLS appearances in a glittering career. He could play up top or out wide, which was more than enough for Wondolowski to put him on.
Moreno debuted in MLS's inaugural 1996 season and stayed in the league until 2010, mostly with D.C. United. He scored 133 goals and added 102 assists during his time.
"I just think he's an amazing striker, what he brought to the game and MLS was unreal," Wondolowski said.
As for Twellman, the ESPN broadcaster and former New England Revolution talisman is the second-fastest in MLS history to 100 goals, but was limited to 174 appearances due to injuries. Wondolowski, currently sitting on 159 goals and counting, thinks Twellman would be the league's goal king if not for those injuries.
"Injuries cut you short, I still think I'd be chasing your (goal) number, to be honest, if you played a full career," Wondo said.
