The New England Revolution enjoyed a strong end to preseason, topping the Portland Timbers 3-1 at Providence Park a week before the 2020 MLS season gets underway.
Designated Player Gustavo Bou led the way with two goals on both sides of halftime, with Adam Buksa scoring the game's final goal to pace the Revs.
It was the Timbers who scored the game's first goal, courtesy of veteran midfielder Diego Chara, who found the ball after goalkeeper Matt Turner made a save but sent the ball back into the box.
The Revolution began their comeback in the 42nd minute, however, with Bou scoring first from a Brandon Bye cross.
Three minutes after halftime, Bou scored again from a penalty kick earned after Larrys Mabiala fouled Buksa in the box.
The Revolution added to their lead just three minutes later, with Bou continuing his strong streak with an assist to Buksa's goal.
New England maintained dominant form to finish out the match, ending a five match preseason with a record of 2W-2L-1T. Portland ends preseason with a second consecutive loss, but with a winning record of 4W-2L-0T in six exhibition matches.
