September is Childhood Cancer Awareness month, and MLS teams around the league are "going gold" this weekend to show their support for the Kick Childhood Cancer campaign. Put on by Major League Soccer's community outreach initiative, MLS WORKS, the Kick Child Cancer campaign is designed to benefit Children's Oncology Group in support of Childhood Cancer Awareness month.
The campaign features a variety of elements, including a commemorative gold match ball that will be used during all MLS games in September, as well as an array of limited-edition and gold-themed merchandise for sale with the proceeds benefiting Children's Oncology Group.
MLS teams and players have also come together to show their support for the Kick Childhood Cancer campaign, and you can check out some of their efforts below:
Fans are encouraged to support local club observances and post images with their Kick Childhood Cancer scarf, or other favorite club scarves on Instagram and Twitter using the hashtag #ScarvesUp. MLS WORKS will make a donation to Children’s Oncology Group for each post that includes the hashtag. Fans can also donate directly to Children's Oncology Group.
