The Montreal Impact announced on Tuesday that they’ve signed second round pick forward Michael Salazar to an MLS contract.
The No. 24 overall selection in the January SuperDraft, Salazar began his college career with California Baptist University, playing the 2011 and 2012 seasons there before transferring to UC-Riverside for the 2014 and 2015 campaigns.
He distinguished himself with amateur club PSA Elite in the 2015 US Open Cup, registering three goals and four assists in four games to take home Lower Division Player of the Tournament honors. He has four career caps with the Belize national team, and was on the country’s roster at the 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup.
Tuesday's signing takes the Impact to 28 players on their roster ahead of Sunday’s MLS opener at the Vancouver Whitecaps (5:30 pm ET; TSN 1 and RDS in Canada, MLS LIVE in the US).
