Coming off a win that pushed them back above the playoff line in the Eastern Conference, the Montreal Impact look to build momentum and move further into safety when they host reeling D.C. United Saturday night at Stade Saputo.
The Impact (11-14-4) rallied from a first-half deficit to defeat the Vancouver Whitecaps Wednesday at Stade Saputo. Yordy Reyna put the visitors in front and had a golden chance at a brace moments later, but was denied twice from the penalty spot by Evan Bush, the re-take coming after Tosaint Ricketts' rebound goal was called back following Video Review due to encroachment. An own goal by Doneil Henry leveled the score in the 35th minute and Maxi Urruti scored the decisive goal two minutes later.
D.C. United (10-10-9) suffered a pair of defeats in Heineken Rivalry Week, following a 2-1 home defeat with a 3-1 loss at the Philadelphia Union Saturday. The Black-and-Red have lost three in a row and four of their last five. Goals by Kacper Przybylko and Brenden Aaronson gave the hosts a two-goal lead after 16 minutes and Ilsinho tacked on a third goal in the 36th minute. Luciano Acosta pulled D.C. United, which were without the suspended Wayne Rooney, back a goal 20 minutes later, but that was as close as the visitors would come.
This is the second meeting this season, with the teams sharing the points in a 0-0 draw at Audi Field April 9.
