Musical stars past and present joined the party as New York City FC earned a sweet 2-1 rivalry win over the New York Red Bulls on Saturday, with hip-hop legend DMX and rising Afrobeats innovator Afro B among the club’s guests of honor at Yankee Stadium.
A Yonkers native, DMX spent some time at field level and the Grammy-nominated, multi-platinum rapper also paid a visit to the NYCFC supporters section.
Meanwhile Afro B, the UK DJ and producer of Ivorian descent who has rocketed to fame with the hit track “Drogba (Joanna),” which takes its title from former Chelsea and Montreal Impact striker Didier Drogba, stopped by the home team’s euphoric locker room – where it was obvious that he features on many of the team’s playlists:
