TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Signing
Nashville SC have signed free agent goalkeeper Bryan Meredith, the club announced Wednesday.
Meredith, 31, has been a steady backup at a number of MLS clubs since entering the league in 2011 with the Seattle Sounders. Between stints with Seattle (twice), San Jose Earthquakes and, most recently, the Vancouver Whitecaps, he's made 16 MLS appearances. Prior to his time in MLS, the New Jersey native was a standout at Monmouth University.
“Bryan has been an outstanding teammate wherever he’s been, and we know that he’ll add to the depth of our goalkeeping corps here," GM Mike Jacobs said in a club statement. “His size and athleticism make him someone who immediately adds competition and improves our goalkeeper pool.”
The veteran gives Nashville three goalkeepers on their active roster, behind starter Joe Willis and youngster Elliot Panicco. The club lost Brady Scott in the Expansion Draft to Austin FC.
Outside of MLS, Meredith has featured for Swedish Superettan side IK Brage and North American Soccer League club New York Cosmos.
