New England Revolution star Carles Gil is in a walking boot, casting doubt over his status for the remainder of the MLS is Back Tournament.
Gil was left out of the squad in the Revs' final group stage game against Toronto FC due to an apparent foot/ankle injury. Gil missed the first two games of 2020 with a foot injury.
Gil's tournament debut was a strong one, as he created 12 chances against the Impact. He was tied for first in the league despite having played just that one game.
He has now missed three of the club's first five games of 2020, after starting all 34 in a stellar 2019 campaign which saw the 27-year-old post 10 goals and 14 assists, win MLS Newcomer of the Year while leading the Revs to the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs.
New England beat the Montreal Impact and tied D.C. United in their first two games at the tournament.
