If now-retired soccer star David Beckham is going to exercise his contractual option to become an MLS owner, it won't be with New York City FC.
The newest MLS expansion club, formally unveiled on Tuesday, will be owned by English soccer club Manchester City in partnership with baseball's New York Yankees.
As for Beckham, who formally announced his retirement last week, there are no plans for him to be involved in NYCFC.
"We've never spoken to David Beckham and he's never been considered as part of the ownership of this team," Manchester City CEO Ferran Soriano said on a Tuesday media teleconference call. "Not even as an executive."

Last year, MLS Commissioner Don Garber had made it clear that Beckham's ownership option didn't extend to a second club in New York City.
"Anything’s a possibility other than his right to exercise that option in New York," Garber said on a media conference call back in November 2012.
Recent reports and speculation have indicated Miami as one of the cities that Beckham might be interested in as an expansion target.
"It is one of many markets that has been mentioned, so have other markets," a league spokesman told Reuters' Simon Evans last week about talks with Beckham.
